There’s been some huge shifting going on recently on the planet. Can you feel it? I’m not much of an astrology buff, but I have some pretty cool friends who are and I’ve been reliably informed that the planet Mercury has been in retrograde since January 21st. When this happens it’s an opportunity for clearing old patterns and stuff comes up to be healed and released. This can look like the sh#t hitting the fan! 🙁 In the last 3…
Last Friday morning I had a meltdown. I was feeling completely overwhelmed. I had so much to do, I didn’t know where to begin. I had major decisions to make on several fronts, both personally and professionally, and deadlines to meet that day. In my state of overwhelm I couldn’t decide what to do first and so I simply shut down! Can you relate? I sent an “SOS” email to my coach who, thankfully, was able to call me right…
Money is something that impacts every aspect of our lives. We all have experiences that shape our interpretation of, and relationship with, money. I call this your money story. Here’s mine: I am a descendant of the first black millionaire in the Caribbean, George Stiebel. The grand home he built in the late 1800’s still stands as a national landmark in the capital city of Kingston, Jamaica. His name is etched above the huge brick oven in what used to…
In November I went to the gynecologist as I was having some abnormal bleeding. She ordered some tests including an ultrasound which showed a mass in my uterus (approx 2.5cm x 4.5 cm). She had also discovered a polyp on my cervix and scheduled a hysteroscopy (a procedure where they look into the uterus and take some tissue to do a biopsy to test the tissue for cancer). The procedure was scheduled for the afternoon of December 10th. I was…
I’m coloring on the floor. I can smell the distinct odor of the brown wax crayon I am using. The salty tears are flowing down my cheeks, leaving wet spots on the drawing paper. The inner child meditation we have just completed has excavated memories that had been buried for so long. I find myself drawing the weathered upright piano I spent long hours at in my childhood home. I weep as forgotten memories come flooding back so vividly it’s…
This week as we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States there is a lot of talk about being thankful. I myself talk a lot about the power of gratitude and appreciation. But there are times when things aren’t going quite the way we would like and, despite our best intentions, we just can’t seem to muster up any gratitude and appreciation in the moment. It’s common to get anxious or even feel ashamed of not feeling grateful….
I’m a big advocate for celebrating – especially the little things. In my family we always celebrated birthdays, Christmas, Easter – the “good” things. Years ago, I read a book by Melody Beattie called “Make Miracles in 40 days: Turning What You Have Into What You Want”, which introduced me to be idea of being grateful and celebrating everything – the good, the bad and the ugly. It makes sense when you think about the energy that surrounds a celebration….
My heart is pounding. My mouth is dry. My breath is shallow. I can hardly focus on what the other people in the circle are saying because my mind is racing. “What should I say?”… “Oh God! That person just said what I was going to say!”… “Crap! Now I have to come up with something else”… I’m trying to pay attention to what’s being said by the people going before me while figuring out what I’m going to say,…
I just led another amazing group of women through my ‘shift into your million dollar zone’ workshop last Saturday. We had so much fun, no one wanted to leave! Many of them expressed having had some anxiety coming into the workshop as they did not know what to expect. In the end, everyone left lighter, more energized and more courageous than before, with tools under their belt to manage their thoughts and emotions and keep them moving forward through life’s…
In a recent session, one of my clients related the following story as we were celebrating the changes she is making in her life: “I was having a really bad morning. I felt horribly depressed. I didn’t know why. It felt like there was a dark grey cloud over my head. I couldn’t think straight. All I could do was cry. My husband was very concerned. Trying to cheer me up, He suggested I go to his parents house and…
